Introducing Leadership Systems
Over the last few years of venture investing, I have been compiling everything I have experienced and learned about startups and founders. There are many (too many), and I have shared some on this Venture Humanist Substack over the past year.
But one of the biggest findings was the power of systems; multiple interacting tools and processes.
Individual willpower and self-discipline can easily fade away, but with a system in place, we can sustain performance at scale.
No system can be great for all, but there’s a system that works best for us and our specific context.
Many people have already come across similar issues and have solved it, so we can try these best practices.
Reflecting upon our experience and using constructive insight to adjust our own systems is by far the most effective in uplifting our long-term capabilities.
In 2025, I have finally developed curriculum for leaders to build, test and improve their own systems.
A simple framework I call Leadership Systems. And it is built around four pillars:
Delivery: turning promise into reality
Communication: Creating shared clarity and belief
Decision-making: Choosing well under uncertainty
Growth: Becoming capable of what you couldn’t do before
The Leadership Systems curriculum is open-sourced here: Leadership systems | Notion
In 2026, this Substack is where I’ll publish the thoughts, tools, habits, and templates behind each system. The newsletter may be slightly different from 2025 posts, but I hope you all will like the new system :)
Happy New Year, and looking forward to growing together through great systems this year!
With Love,
Koshu
